Start thinking about selling your home this Spring

Enjoy the holidays

Is this going to be the last Christmas in your home? Are you selling it next year? Home selling can be stressful, but you don’t have to do it alone. When your house is staged and looks move-in ready, buyers will flock to your open house to make an offer so you can move into your next house. Let me share how we can work together to make this process easy for you.

I want you to enjoy this time of year in your home before you put it on the market. Next year, I will have a series of podcast episodes to help you get your home ready for sale with budgets, tips, and more so stay tuned.

In the meantime, I want you to consider a few things as you gather all your info to get your house ready.

  1. Consider talking to a home stager early to see what you need to work on. Get as much time as you can before you really need to buckle down.
  2. Advice is meant to help, not offend you. Your decorating style is your own. But when it comes to selling your home, it has to look a bit different. It’s going to feel different. Look different. But that’s ok, it's only temporary.
  3. Decide now what things you really want to move with you. You have to decide sooner or later so you might as well get started. Not taking that lawn mower? Sell it. Kids have outgrown some of the toys? Donate them or sell them (the toys not the kids). After moving 10 times in 25 years, I created a moving checklist that you can use too. You can find that in my Etsy shop, WillowBrookPrintable.
  4. I offer staging advice for 1 room or the whole house. Let me know if you get stuck. I will offer advice on furniture layout, colors, accessories, and how to pull it all together in my Staging Snapshot. You can sign up here.
  5. I also have a playlist of Home Staging Do’s and Don’ts. I actually created it to coincide with an Advent Calendar with 24 episodes for you to listen to. You can find it here https://spoti.fi/47SFE26
  6. You can also work with me in a 2-hour consultation where I show you where to focus your efforts for maximum impact. Check out my website bluediamondstaginganddesign.com

Since we are close to the holidays and a lot of us are traveling, including me, I won't have another email until after the New Year. Check out my website, listen to some podcast episodes, or download my moving checklists that will help you stay organized during the move. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year!

Home Stager

I am a military veteran after serving the Air Force for almost 10 years. Since the military moved me every 2 years, I mastered the skills needed to sell my homes quickly. I now help homeowners and realtors get your home ready to sell so that buyers fall in love with your home and make an offer. I can also help coordinate colors, furniture layout and décor when moving into a new home or building one. Let me know how I can help!

Pantry Cleanout Challenge As part of the new year cleanup, I realized my pantry has gotten out of hand lately. I have a walk-in pantry that is 8 feet deep and 4 feet across so there is LOTS of space to store/hide things. And that’s when we get into trouble with losing things that you didn’t realize are still in there. This past week I worked on cleaning out my pantry and I want to give you some tips and tricks I used during this pantry cleanout and challenge you to a Pantry Cleanout...

Stop doing this! I know you're probably thinking, what do you want me to stop doing? With a new year, there are always new things we want to tackle. And for homeowners, there are things that you can stop doing when it comes time to sell your home. Now I wanted to tell you to stop doing this one thing...but I can’t stop with just one…so I will share at least two things to stop doing. 1. Stop leaving family photos up or nude pictures. They do two things to your home that you don’t want people...

Happy Thanksgiving! I know some of you are getting ready for Thanksgiving (as are we). Our oldest daughter is coming home from college for a few days of home-cooked meals and then heads back to play in the NCSU Band for the UNC vs NCSU game on Saturday. So it's a whirlwind of activities here. We managed to get a lot of the Fall home maintenance done around the house as we settle into "winter" here in North Carolina. It doesn't get that cold here but there are a few things that need to get...
